Welcome

… to Jonathan Stott’s now-minimal web site. I started this in 2005 with rather grandiose ideas of what I wanted it to become, covering both my work and hobby interests. I’ve now decided to remove most of what was formerly here, partly for privacy concerns and also because it felt rather out of date.

Work

I never really found the time nor the freedom to include much about my work interests, beyond a list of my publications which linked to the various web sites run by other organisations that hosted them and held the copyright. I did consider keeping this available as I am proud enough of what I did at the time I did it. However, it is a near-impossible task to keep track of the constant URL changes as the organisations in question update their sites or cease to host the files. So I have reluctantly removed it. It’s also true that considerable time has passed and some things will be much less relevant now, or even superseded by other bits of my own work, or that of others!

Nevertheless, if you are interested in anything in particular that you think I may have written and can’t readily turn up with a web search please get in touch (see below). I still have the document list and will at least know exactly what to search for.

Consultancy

I ‘retired’ at the end of 2009, but then found myself in some demand for engineering consultancy, which I did from 2010-2015. I am now utterly retired!

Hobbies

Music has been my main hobby, whether listening to it or trying to play a bit of jazz. I did formerly offer here an account of my experiences, as well as a few recordings and “the dots” of some of my compositions. I doubt that this was of much interest to many, and perhaps there was too much personal information. Any of my past and present musical acquaintances are of course welcome to get in touch if they’d like copies or just a chat or even arrange a jam!

I’ve always listened to classical music, as well as jazz, even if I can’t play it myself. I do however continue to support an amateur orchestra in other ways, producing the web site and other publicity material for the Surrey Philharmonic Orchestra. Go to their concerts if you’re in the area!

Getting in touch

I’d be very happy to hear from school friends, college buddies, fellow musicians, and work colleagues and collaborators. Please use the webmaster address shown below.
